Reset alarm for a quieter jump-startDear Tom and Ray: I am trying to jump-start my husband's 2008 Honda Accord. However, when I connect the last jumpercable clamp, the horn starts blowing. Tom: Actually, it's your alarm system that's going off. When the battery died, the car's factoryinstalled alarm system assumed that someone was tampering with the battery or had disconnected it in order to break into the car. Ray: Once the car is locked and then unlocked with a legitimate key or key fob, the alarm will reset and you'll be good to go.

The security system alarm will continue forapproximately 5 minutes before the security systemdeactivates.
The security alarm continues for 30 seconds, then the system resets. If the cause of the alarm continues, alarming will repeat several times at about 5 second intervals. Do not set the security system alarm when someone is in the vehicle or a window is open. If this occurs, deactivate the security system alarm by unlocking a door using the remote transmitter or keyless access system. The security system alarm goes off.
