Mazda6 cars recalled for door latch problemDETROIT (AP) — Mazda is recalling 161,400 midsize cars in the U.S. because the doors can open while they're being driven. The recall affects Mazda6 cars from the 2009 through 2013 model years. The company says the door latch mounting screws can loosen. Mazda traced the problem to improper tightening at the factory or uneven door surfaces. The company will notify owners and dealers will put on a thread-locking adhesive and tighten the screws.

Mazda3 Warranty ExtensionMazda Motor Corporation is also extending the warranty coverage for dashboards on certain 2010 Mazda3 vehicles produced from October 7, 2008 through April 28, 2010. If there is prolonged exposure and deterioration, the dashboard could develop a sticky surface. The warranty extension only applies to the sticky surface condition.

Mazda will recall 41,918 units of the 2009-2010 Mazda6 in the United States for a problem with the airbag control unit. The safety problem with these sedans is that they don’t have a sufficient protective coating on the airbag control unit’s power supply. After discussing the issue with the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the government agency requested the business conduct a recall. To rectify the problem, Mazda dealers will replace the airbag control unit. The 2009-2011 Mazda6 is also part of a recently expanded recall to replace their Takata-supplied airbag inflators.
