I have a '16 CX-5 GT with remote start key fob - no app. Anyway, I'm a smart phone neophyte and don't like needing it for things other than making calls and texts. As far as the "fob" itself, it's separate from the actual key fob (no idea why). I wish you could change it to just run for five minutes but that is not an option. The car's heat only takes a few minutes and five would be just enough for it to be warm.
