The Mirage returns as an early 2017 model, with its lineup now augmented by the Mirage G4 sedan, the subject of this test. The Mirage G4 is a case study in what happens when manufacturers try. Packaged for AmericaIn SE form, the Mirage G4 has standard automatic climate control, power windows, proximity-sensing remote locks, push-button ignition, 15-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and a backup camera. The Mirage G4 SE weighs 127 pounds more than the 2014 hatchback we tested, and the CVT is standard. That car has a 98-hp 1.4-liter four-cylinder and hits 60 mph two seconds quicker, and it never feels as overworked as the Mirage G4.

OverviewFor folks who enjoy fuel-efficient small cars, there are few new ones available, but the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is just that. On the other hand, the Mirage G4 delivers phenomenal fuel economy for a nonhybrid car. Everyone else will likely find the Mirage G4 lacking the substance expected from a modern car. According to the EPA, the Mirage G4 achieves fuel economy of 35/41 mpg city/highway with the optional CVT. Relative to its hatchback sibling, the Mirage G4 sedan provides an extra three inches of rear-seat legroom.

2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4KBB ReviewIf you like the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage’s styling and long warranty, and aren’t put off by its hard interior plastics, non-folding rear seat (G4 sedan) and 12.5-second zero-to-60-mph time, then by all means have it. You May Not Like This Car If...Mitsubishi’s 2018 Mirage hatchback is fairly inexpensive, but so is the better-built, better-equipped Nissan Versa. A Ford Fiesta will give you better performance, features and comfort, as will a Honda Fit and Kia Rio. For the money, even a nice used compact would make a better choice.
