I remember an incident where my friends and I were going to Lonavala and one of the 3rd row seat was folded to accommodate our luggage. I am 5’8 and I still fit perfectly in the 3rd row. I find the latest Gen Fortuner’s 3rd row tighter in headroom due to slightly lower overall height of the vehicle and the protruding housing of the 3rd row boot light! Fortuner gets part-time 4WD like our Thar DI and the rest two are 2WD. W.r.t gearbox, I find the 6-speed AT in the Fortuner better, but the BS6 Endeavour gets 10-speed one which is even smoother. Campervans or motorhomes with built-in toilets are great for camping in the outdoors, but no one would expect the same setup in a regular SUV. Still, a Toyota Fortuner owner from India retrofitted a toilet in the boot that is accessible from the cabin. They have done a great job integrating the extra room inside the Fortuner’s cabin, although things are quite cramped due to the limited interior height. The additional room barely fits a human being but it has a proper toilet seat, ventilation, and a door. Interestingly, the Fortuner still has the seatbelt next to the toilet seat, even though the buckle is nowhere to be found.
The Toyota Fortuner gets two engine options: a new 204PS/500Nm 2.8-litre diesel and a 166PS/245Nm 2.7-litre petrol unit. The diesel variants get an option for rear and all-wheel drive, whereas the petrol variants are only offered with a rear-wheel drivetrain. Selecting the right fuel type depends on your utility and the average running of the car. On the other hand, diesel cars are preferred if the average daily run is more than 50km which makes it a feasible purchase. If you want a powerful engine option and the average driving is on the higher side, then you may go with the diesel engine option.
