Interestingly, prices for both the 4x2 and 4x4 variants of the Fortuner Legender have also been hiked by Rs 1.10 lakh. The Fortuner GR-S has been made available in a single, fully-loaded variant based on the diesel 4x4 AT trim. Toyota Fortuner GR-S edition has been launched in the Indian market at ₹48.43 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant has been placed even higher than the Legender trim which was previously the top-spec model in the lineup. The Fortuner GR-S has been made available in a single, fully-loaded variant based on the diesel 4x4 AT trim. On the outside, the new Fortuner GR-S comes with several notable styling tweaks against the regular Fortuner models.
Last week Toyota launched the 2021 facelift of the Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market, but the brand is now already working on the next-generation Toyota Fortuner and surprisingly, Toyota Motor Corporation’s Chief Engineer confirmed that the new-generation model will be launched next year. The next-generation Fortuner is also expected to come with the latest generation connectivity features as well as an improved ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology. The next-generation model is expected to come with greater digitisation and integration of the ADAS. The next-generation Fortuner could come with a mild-hybrid or strong hybrid powertrain with a diesel motor. The current Fortuner in India is powered by both diesel and petrol engine options.
The Toyota Fortuner may just have been updated in its current, second-gen avatar for our market, but we can already reveal the tentative timeline for the third-gen model. I did consider other 7-seater SUVs like the Jeep Meridian & Skoda Kodiaq but still leaning towards the Fortuner. Hence, requesting for some advice/clarity if you think the next generation update is coming anytime soon and it'll be prudent to wait, or will it be better to go with the current one? (read 15+ years if the govt allows) Don't if: You just want a Fortuner now and enjoy it. The only big change the next-gen Fortuner may have is a V6 diesel option.
