Those are cars you probably never heard about, right?In Thailand , the new Yaris Ativ is powered only be a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that produces 87and 108 Nm of torque. The auto version will have a mileage of 9km/l in the city and around 12km/l on the open road. The diesel will return 13km/l in the city and 18km/l on the highway.The styling is what got us interested in the Yaris sedan.

Toyota Yaris Ativ 1.2 S (2017) reviewToyota’s new Yaris Ativ may not be brilliant, but it’s the aging competition that makes the country’s latest Ecocar look good. But rather than calling it what it used to be, the new car is conveniently known as the Yaris Ativ because it’s actually just a saloon derivative of today’s Yaris hatchback. So yes, the Ativ and Vios continue to share the same space in Thai showrooms. As the Ativ is built to Ecocar rules, it gets the 86hp 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine and CVT automatic transmission from the Yaris. So even its arrival onto the Thai mass-market scene may seem a little too early, it’s a timely one to win back market share Toyota desperately wants.
Toyota AI Ventures along with Toyota Research Institute (TRI) launched the Call for Innovation initiative to promote innovation around robotics technology. The automaker previously tried building market share with the Etios and other strategic models but had trouble striking the right balance between high quality and low prices. In August, Toyota started selling the Yaris Ativ (pictured) in Thailand which starts at the equivalent of around US$13,000. The car is based on the Yaris/Vitz but unlike that model, which has a 1.5 litre engine in the Thai market, the Yaris Ativ has a 1.2. The Yaris Ativ went on sale last month with TMT estimating monthly sales would be 4,700 cars with a further 3,000 exports.
